China: Chocolates are always a hit. Make sure to include red & gold colors for luck. This is especially important for new business deals, the Chinese New Year and celebrations.  

 

Hong Kong: 64% of the gifts contain chocolates.  48% also had a bottle of wine.  Mixed nuts or cheeses can be a great complement inside the gift hamper.

 

Japan: Wine or Champagne can make great options for clients and partners, but avoid black & white patterns on labels.  That is a sign of mourning and could mean your relationship or deal may be short lived.  Red & White are celebration colors.  By finding items that have these colors you can send a very positive message.

 

South Korea: Gifts containing chocolate are the most popular. Be cautious of labeling with red letters. This is a sign of the deceased.  You don't want the recipient to assume your work together is already doomed.  

 

Singapore: 56% of gifts had both food & chocolates in them. 22% of gifts sent had flowers as accents or part of the gift.  If you're sending something to Singapore, you can't go wrong with fruits, cheeses and foodie gifts like olives and appetizers.  

 

Philippines:  Sweet treats like candy or chocolates will make your business gifts shine. Polka dots are a sign of luck & money around the New Year.  Including this pattern on a product can show you wish good fortune on your business endevours.   

 

India: Corporate gifts with food & wine trump this list. Green and Blue are both popular colors for luck.  If you're sending something for a wedding, make sure the color red incorporated in.

 

Thailand: More than 50% of the baskets had food & wine in them. Try to pick something with an elephant that has a raised trunk.  It shows prosperity.  But beware, an elephant with a trunk hanging low could give the wrong message.  

 

Malaysia: 72% of gift baskets contain food items like cheese, olives, crackers or biscuits.  Focusing on foods that your associates love is always a great option.
